Free film celebrating pioneering women

Join Chaplain Sarah at the Arena Theatre on 21 November to discover an inspirational story about women in leadership.
Across the world members of the Anglican Church, global network of Christian congregations that includes the Church of England are celebrating significant anniversaries for women leaders. In 1944 Florence Li Tim Oi was ordained as a priest in Hong Kong, the first Anglican woman in that role.
Thirty years later in 1974 women became priests in America and although their story is one of a great drama, controversy and courage it is not well known outside America.
As part of her personal celebration of thirty years of women's ordination in the Church of England our own Lead Chaplain Revd Dr Sarah Schofield has partnered with the Arena Theatre to screen a unique documentary about the radical actions that surrounded the first American ordinations.
The story of the 'Philadelphia Eleven', including the woman who would be become the first female African American Bishop, is an example of history being made against the odds.
Please join us for one of two free screenings on Thursday 21 November, at 1pm and 7pm.
