Before You Arrive
Check Your Timetable – Make sure you know your exam location and arrive on time.
Pack Smart – Bring necessary stationery and leave valuables at home.
Bring Your ID – Your University ID card (or another photo ID) is essential for entry.
Entering the Exam Room
Store Your Belongings – Place bags, coats, and valuables in the designated area.
Switch Off Devices – Turn off your phone and other electronics; they must be stored away.
Show Your ID – Place it on your desk for the invigilator to check.
Stay Silent & Respectful – Keep noise to a minimum and respect fellow students.
Wait for Instructions – Do not read or write until the invigilator says so.
The invigilator will announce safety procedures and what to do in case of an emergency before the exam starts.
During the Exam
Read Instructions Carefully – If something seems wrong, raise your hand for help.
No Talking or Communicating – Any disturbance could lead to removal from the exam.
Need a Break? – Raise your hand if you need the toilet or feel unwell.
Exam Essentials: What to Bring & What to Leave Behind
Essential Items to Bring:
✔ University ID Card – You must bring your current University ID to every exam. If unavailable, bring another photo ID (passport or driving licence).
✔ Stationery – Pens, pencils, erasers, and any other necessary items. Stationery will not be provided.
✔ Approved Calculators – If allowed, use a non-programmable, non-data-storing calculator. Mobile phones cannot be used as calculators.
✔ Open Book Exams – Only books and notes approved by your Module Leader are permitted.
Optional Items:
Drinks – Hot or cold drinks are allowed, including reusable containers. Plastic bottle labels must be removedbefore entering the exam room.
Prohibited Items – Leave These Behind:
Notes (on paper, clothing, bottles, or your body)
Pencil cases (unless clear plastic) or glasses cases
Blank paper (note-taking paper will be provided if allowed)
Dictionaries (not permitted in exams)
Mobile phones & electronic devices – Turned off (not silent) and stored in belongings or a clear bag under your chair
Valuables – The University is not responsible for lost or damaged items—leave valuables at home
Prohibited electronic devices include: Mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness bands, MP3 players, wireless earbuds, programmable calculators, and electronic organisers.
Important: Invigilators may inspect anything at your desk. Failure to follow exam rules may lead to disciplinary action.
