I enjoyed studying the MPH course at the University of Wolverhampton. The course content is robust and well-aligned to the needs and understanding of international students.

The UK was an easy destination for my study, given its popularity for high standards of education. The only challenge was choosing from the offers I got for the same course from three UK universities for the 2012/13 academic year. These were the University of Wolverhampton, University of Sheffield, and Cardiff University. I chose the University of Wolverhampton after speaking with a cousin who graduated with an MPH degree in the same University and got a full-time job in the UK with a Public Health organisation within four months of completion. I chose the University of Wolverhampton for the following reasons. 1. The high quality of teaching and very decent MPH programme. 2. Wolverhampton City being the most diverse City in the West Midlands. It has a heterogeneous mix of nationalities, religions, and ethnic groups. It is friendly and welcoming to international students. 3. The cost of the University tuition and lower cost of living in the City. I enjoyed studying the MPH course at the University of Wolverhampton. The course content is robust and well-aligned to the needs and understanding of international students. Though the MPH programme was quite intense, I enjoyed the style of teaching and delivery. The lecturers are quite experienced, outstanding, friendly, and supportive. The University's facilities and library resources are world-class, and it made learning more comfortable for me.
After the MPH degree, I got a fantastic job with an International NGO called Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). My position was as a Senior Programme Officer for Kano State, Nigeria. I was able to apply a lot of the acquired knowledge and skills from the MPH programme in the job role. I later got promoted to a national position as a senior analyst on the essential medicine programme on the prevention and treatment of diarrhoea in children. The knowledge and skills I acquired in advanced research, epidemiology and statistics on the MPH programme stimulated my interest in further research in Public Health. As a result, I returned to the UK in 2016 for my doctoral study. During my PhD study, the University offered me short-term contracts as a research assistant and visiting lecturer in Public Health, which significantly enhanced my work experience. The University also sponsored me for the PGCE teaching course which would grant me the fellowship of the UK higher Academy by Feb 2021.
I have received a successful award outcome for my PhD. While awaiting the official award of the PhD, I was sponsored by the University for the Doctoral Extension Scheme Visa. The visa enabled me to get a job and work full time in the UK.
I would like students to be aware that the University of Wolverhampton has a very decent MPH programme which open doors for jobs. The doctoral study experience I had was great, and it exceeded my expectations. Besides, the vital advanced research skills and knowledge I acquired, I had four publications during my PhD study. I won conference grants from the University for three years in a row, which enabled me to present my research findings at international conferences in London (UK), Paris (France), Boston (USA) and Helsinki (Finland).
