Most of my teaching career has been at a further education college teaching a wide variety of subjects from Early Childhood Studies through to Initial Teacher Education. I have spent twenty years in a classroom teaching vocational and academic subjects, supporting teachers through mentoring and coaching, in a quality role as lead IQA and as a teaching and learning advisor.

For the last ten years I have been part of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) both in college and at the university as part of the unique and forward thinking collaborative partnership that exist within Post Compulsory Education. During my years of working with in-service teachers I gained a clear insight into some of the demands teachers face, and I have successfully supported teachers in a wide variety of vocational and academic curriculum areas, ranging from Hair and Beauty to Forensic Science.

Within the Institute I have an active role in undertaking collaborative research and writing with colleague

Developing professional teacher identity - the journey, the influences from pre-course assumptions to practicing teacher.

Teacher support and well-being - the nurturing of emerging teachers - the role of tutors, mentors and peers .
