I worked in the NHS for 27 years before joining the university as a senior lecturer in adult nursing in 2016. I trained as a registered general nurse then worked for some time on a medical ward before specialising in renal nursing. I worked as a sister on a renal unit prior to undertaking health visitor training in 1998; I then worked in a variety of healthcare trusts as a health visitor, a health visitor practice teacher and a health visiting manager. The opportunity to spend a year working across the Midlands and East region with the Institute of Health Visiting widened my interest in the spread of healthcare innovation via communities of practice across the regional and national arena.
My passion has always been in improving healthcare services and developing motivated healthcare professionals to reach their potential to provide care that promotes a service’s user’s optimum physical and emotional wellbeing. I have a sound track record in successful service innovations within healthcare and have a particular passion for building teams that strive to deliver high quality, efficient and effective health care to both individuals and communities.
