Before entering academia I worked as a Registered Nurse, in a range of different environments, I commenced my career in General Surgery and Urology, caring for a wide range of patients as a Staff Nurse. For career progression and development I moved into the community setting as a Practice Nurse completing my degree in Clinical Nursing Practice. I then had the wonderful opportunity to complete my MSc in Advanced Nursing practice and then was able to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner assessing, diagnosing and providing care to patients with minor/same day illnesses as a Nurse Prescriber.

Moving into academia in 2018 as a lecturer has afforded me the opportunity to teach on the Nursing Associate Course and be part of curriculum development for level 4 and 5 students. I am module leader on Demonstrating Inclusive and Collaborative Practice.

I now work in CPD and I am the module lead for V300 Independent non medical Prescribing.

My MSc in Advancing Nursing Practice was gained from the University of Birmingham City and I have a keen interest in undertaking research regarding of encouraging more men into Nursing. My research activity led to the publication of an opinion paper ‘It’s Time to encourage more Men to be A Nursing Associate’.
