Behaviour for learning and classroom culture and development.
I lead PGCE PE and Dance teacher education for 8 years. Developing the programme to be a collaborative partnership between trainees, school mentors and university staff, which supports trainees in becoming effective and reflective teachers and future leaders. In recent years, I have supported school leadership development through facilitating NPQ provision and marking, school consultation and supporting leaders in impactful school based projects. Working with our MAT schools has ensured I maintain an up to date knowledge of current educational context and developed my consultancy skills. I have undertaken several school governor roles having an impact on whole school provision and culture across all phases of the education system.
As an external examiner of other PGCE programmes I share knowledge and create partnerships to support local provision in a strategic manner. I am a founding fellow of the CCT based upon my contribution to school improvement within partner schools and pervious success in school leadership. I currently undertake a role on the C-Teach assessment board supporting the development of quality assurance and standards of the course, further to this I have contributed to the C-Teach and C-Leadership programme development as a member of the advisory board. All of these roles are rewarding and ensure that I have impact on the quality of learning and leadership.
Within secondary schools I undertook a 14 year teaching career I have developed strong leadership skills and have led self-evaluation of a team through the use of observation, work scrutiny and learning walks at department, faculty and whole school level. My teaching was consistently judged as Outstanding and I shared my skills and understanding of teaching pedagogy with other staff through supporting and implementing a MA accredited evidence based CPD model. I have a working knowledge of current issues in education and the changing landscape of examination subjects and qualifications having worked as QN for BTec. I have shown drive, resilience, energy and enthusiasm when working with staff and students to share vision and high expectations creating two outstanding Physical Education and Creative Arts Departments recognised through external awards. I continually promote excellence and build relationships based upon trust and professional expectations using coaching to develop staff capacity to meet the changing demands of the teaching profession.
