About University of Wolverhampton at The Halls

Discover The Halls, from their golden years to their long awaited reopening, and explore how its facilities can enhance your visit.

Did you know The Halls are one of the longest serving rock’n’roll venues in the country? That’s right! From the glam rock of David Bowie, T. Rex and local legends Slade, to the heavy metal forefathers Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, and world-shaking Britpop of Oasis and Blur, changing waves of music have echoed within its walls over the years.

On what was to be one of the band’s final UK shows, Nirvana (have you got one of their iconic t-shirts tucked away?) gave their first-ever live performance of All Apologies on November 6th 1991, more than a year before its single release. Other historic returning guests include The Who, Bjork, Manic Street Preachers, Garbage, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin.

After closing for a multi-million-pound renovation, the venue reopened as University of Wolverhampton at The Halls in 2023 with an impressive line-up of acts waiting to grace the stage including Siouxsie, McFly, the Sugababes and Blur.

In the last few years, the likes of Vampire Weekend, Thundercat, Nas, Michael Kiwanuka, Liam Gallagher and legends including Bob Dylan and Billy Ocean have all played the venue. Talented wordsmiths and comedians including Caitlin Moran, John Bishop and Jimmy Carr have also brought laughter to the room.

As a student at University of Wolverhampton, you have the unique and exciting opportunity to get early access for these high demand shows, 24 hours before they go on general sale, while also receiving notifications for discounted or competition prize tickets. You’ll find all upcoming shows on the University of Wolverhampton at the Halls official website.

Whatever your plans for your night out, you’ll find a great selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as selected hot and cold snacks on offer in the venue’s cashless bars. Or you can choose to pay in advance by taking advantage of lounge passes and drink packages when ordering your tickets. Every level has bar and toilet facilities.

Both the Civic and Wulfrun halls’ entrance and ground floor, including stalls area are step-free, with a lift to the circle (Civic Hall) and balcony (both venues). For more information on venues and accessibility, see University of Wolverhampton at The Halls | Home.

Wheelchair access bookings with companion tickets can be made online.
