The Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences has a history of community-based learning and research, offering an alternative to the traditional dissertation module called ‘Community Link’, introduced in 1989, where final year students take on applied social research with a VCFSE sector organisation to co-produce a piece of work that will benefit the community.
Past student projects include:
- Goddess living: Co-design of a music therapy project to support the vulnerable women in sheltered housing;
- Base 25: Producing ‘Recipe for Life’ resources to support young people’s transition into adulthood;
- Project Give: primary research in local schools to assess the impact of period poverty on female pupils in Wolverhampton;
- Citizens Advice Wolverhampton: Evaluation of advice services delivered to the Deaf/deaf community.
