Wolves hits top spot for first generation students in national university league table
The University of Wolverhampton has been ranked number 1 in the UK for teaching first generation students – those who are the first in their family to go to university.
The Daily Mail University Rankings and League Table 2024 was released this weekend (Sunday 10 September 2023), with the aim of helping students and parents find the right university for them.
Out of 130 universities across the UK, the University of Wolverhampton was ranked 69th – above other local universities - and was ranked 26th for Teaching Excellence and 39th for Student Support.
Professor John Raftery, Interim Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “This is excellent news and is testament to the dedication of our students and staff.
“Background is no barrier at Wolverhampton; life should not come down to luck.
“We know how to help our students reach their full potential, to write their own story, and to work actively towards living a good and generous life.
“Our staff work tirelessly to guide our students towards their chosen path, so this formal recognition of that commitment is great to see.”
