Award-winning entrepreneur speaks at event on International Women’s Day

The University of Wolverhampton’s Business School has secured an award-winning female entrepreneur to speak at a business networking event on International Women’s Day.

Great British Entrepreneur award winner, Fungai Ndemera, will be guest speaker at the free networking event which takes place on Tuesday 8 March 2022 from 12.00 midday until 2.00 pm in the University of Wolverhampton Business School, Deanery Row in Wolverhampton.

The event has been sponsored by FBC Manby Bowdler Solicitors LLP.

Fungai will talk about the challenges she has experienced as a female entrepreneur, and how she has gone from growing up in poverty in Africa, to building a thriving enterprise from scratch.

With more than 20 years of experience in business leadership, Fungai is a nurse, a STEM ambassador and an Angel Investor.

Sarah Williams, Director at the Business School, said: “This exciting event, which is open to everyone, offers the audience the opportunity to hear from a high-profile inspirational speaker who founded her own business and is now CEO of CheckUp Health, an Artificial Intelligence Driven one-stop Digital Health Doctors Online Remote Consultation Platform business based in Wolverhampton.

“Through her experience, she has learnt to be resilient, strong and realised that the best business lessons are learnt through failures. That’s how her passion for technology and creative solutions were born.

“It’s extremely important that women in business talk frankly about their experiences as entrepreneurs and we’re hoping that this event will be an inspiration for our students and, indeed, anyone who is thinking of starting up their own business.”

The networking event will offer refreshments and a variety of speakers followed by a Question & Answer session with Fungai.
