Jackie Sanderson

MA FINE ART

Jackie Sanderson wants you to experience the joy of creating Art. Her piece “Art is For Everyone” is designed to create an experience, which is active rather than passive. Her intent is to share the ownership of the artwork. By repurposing objects, she wants to show that ordinary functional items can be utilised to create an extraordinary sculptural form.

Joseph Beuys considering “What is Art” Harlan (2004:9) looks at social sculpture as an evolutionary process: everyone as an artist. That is why the nature of his art is not fixed and finished. Sanderson takes this a step further by encouraging the public to engage and change the existing sculptural form presented, by giving them the ability to deconstruct and reconstruct the parts in various possible combinations.

Her whole ethos and social practice, both current and previously, addresses the psychology of interaction of the audience with the object.
