Please do touch!

 

I noticed that when friends view my collection of archeological and osteological artefacts, the encounter with the bones and objects is quite different from a similar experience in a museum. The prohibition there to touch the objects, prevents a deeper connection that goes beyond merely looking at the object. I want to break through this wall. In the museum one reads ‘please do not touch’, I say ‘please do touch’ and will encourage people to touch my screen printed illustrations to have a deeper connection with the work. For this, I will illustrate four extinct animals and print them using pigments derived from fossilized bone powder.
