For me, clay is the most fundamental and haptic material, wonderfully malleable to sculpt and form. It contains an energy which is transformed through the alchemy of firing, allowing the magic of my ideas to become solid. As a sculptor, I enjoy the physical act of making, working with contrasting clay bodies and experimenting with additions and glazes to create dynamic effects.

My work can be described as organic abstraction, fragmented and manipulated, my drawings and sculptures reference ancient Neolithic sites and the energy that they emit. I am inspired by natural forms which reflect the powerful forces of the natural world, creating a strong sense of physical and visual tension.

I produce sculptural pieces in combinations of clay with lava glazes, fired to create geological surfaces. Pieces are layered and include locally sourced clay from a forest near where I live. I make work for indoor and outdoor locations.
