Changes to Library Service – Week Commencing 25 August

There are a couple of key changes to our library service over the coming weeks.
 
Bank Holiday – Monday 25 August

All libraries will be closed on Monday, 25 August, for the upcoming Bank Holiday and will reopen as usual on Tuesday, 26 August. Library Assist Chat will remain available 24/7 and will be answered by our external librarians. Any queries requiring referral to a member of the library team will be picked up as soon as possible, the following day. Please also check our FAQs, where you may find the answer to your question.

Thursday, 28 August – Library Staff Development Day

Our libraries offer some of the most extensive operating hours of all the university’s support services, but there are a small number of days when we need to close the service. On Thursday, 28 August, to enable as many members of the library team as possible to attend staff development and training sessions, both Walsall Campus Library and Hutchison Library, Telford, will be closed.

Harrison Library, City Campus, will remain open during its normal opening hours, albeit with a slightly reduced service offer.

We never like to restrict access to our library study spaces without good reason, as we understand how important they are to our university community. However, it is essential that our teams are equipped with the necessary skills to provide you with the best possible support going into the new academic year.

Library Assist Chat will continue to operate, although coverage will be lower than usual, which may result in slightly longer response times. Some chats may be answered by our international librarians, who are able to provide general information and literacy support, but may not be able to assist with more specific University of Wolverhampton enquiries. If you send your queries to Ask the Library, our usual team will be monitoring this throughout the day and will respond as soon as possible.

In-person Skills for Learning drop-ins will be running as usual at Harrison Library only.

Please ensure you bring your campus ID card if visiting Harrison Library on Thursday, 28 August, as exceptions may not be possible.
