Library Service Disruption

12 July - 1 Aug, suspension of online Reservations and Inter Library Loans

As part of our constant drive to improve services we’re introducing an enhanced library service over the summer. One of the new features will be an improved catalogue search function called LibrarySearch which will replace our current system, Summon. This will go live on 1 August.

What does this mean for you?

In order to facilitate the necessary changes there will be a suspension of some of the services available from your library account (My Account).

From midnight on 11 July until 1 August, whilst you can still access My Account you won’t be able to:

  • reserve items
  • request Inter Library Loans

You can still collect items during this period if you’ve received a collection notification.

If you need to reserve items or request Inter Library Loans please do so before the 12 July.

If you are worried about this affecting your research or studies please contact our library staff for assistance who will be happy to support you.

During this time you will still be able to:

  • Renew items and access your loan history* in My Account.
  • Access the libraries to borrow, return and renew items and get expert support from our library staff.
  • Use Summon search catalogue and access e-Resources (electronic databases, journals and books).
  • Get help from a librarian via ASSIST online chat 24/7.

*Your loan history won't be transferred over to the new system.  If you want to view or retain a copy you'll need to access this before 27 July.

We apologise for any disruption caused and thank you for your patience.

Keep an eye out on the Library webpage and social media for further updates.
