Extended Access to the library for Telford students

Extended Access at Hutchison Library, initially on a trial basis, will enable students to continue to use the study spaces, PCs, pick up any Click & Collect items, return books, borrow laptops (6hr short-loan only) and make use of the various other library facilities after 5 pm during the week as well as over the weekend.

Library staff won't be present at Hutchison Library during Extended Opening but Campus Security will be on campus and able to respond to any concerns that may arise.

All students who wish to use the library during Extended Access periods will need to register so that their campus ID cards can be configured with the relevant permissions to access the library during the Extended Access periods.

Our small Hutchison library team based at Telford campus work Mon-Fri, 08:30 – 5pm. Outside of this staffed period, the library has been closed to students. The return to extended access at Telford will enable students to use the study space and facilities of the library outside of our typical staffed hours during evening and weekends.

During this trial period, the library will be open 08:30-midnight everyday including weekends

Our library team will be available to provide on-campus support at Telford 08:30 – 5 pm, Mon- Fri. You will still be able to get in touch with our library team over at Walsall or City campus via Library Assist which includes 24/7 live chat support.

Below is a breakdown of when staffed library support will be available at Telford

  Library staff available Extended Access
Mon - Fri 08.30 - 5 pm 5 pm - midnight
Sat - Sun   08.30 - midnight

This is available to all current University of Wolverhampton students. however, students must register in advance to use the library during Extended Access.

This is in place to ensure that all students who use the library during Extended Access are made aware of the various limitations of the service during this time as well as to provide them with clear expectations and terms of use. Once you have registered, you will have access permissions added to your campus ID card.

To register for access please click the register link above the FAQs. Library staff will aim to process any requests within 24 hours during working days and you will receive a confirmation once your card has been updated.

If you have any welfare or security concerns during Extended Access, you can contact the campus security team who have a 24/7 presence on Telford Campus.

The easiest way to do this is to contact them via the SafeZone security app where you can easily contact security for general queries, in the event of an emergency or to request first aid. In addition, you can ‘check-in’ using the app so that the security team are aware that you are working in the library space and can respond to any concerns more easily.

You can also call the security team on 01902 322106 or use the security call point located next to the self-service machines inside the library.

  • Click and Collect items that you have reserved and been notified that the items are ready to collect will be available for you to pick up during any of our opening hours including Extended Access.
  • You can return items at either the drop box located on the ground floor of the Angad Paul Building or using the library Self-Service Kiosk
  • Access to the main book collection will not be available during Extended Access
