Entry requirements for students from Nepal

International Foundation Year

Students holding Higher Secondary Certificate with an average of less than 55% will typically be considered for entrance to the International Foundation Year.

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is also required. 


Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) when an overall score of 55% or higher is achieved.

Proficiency Certificates with a minimum of 55%

Diplomas from Tribhuvan University and CVET with a second division.


Bachelor degrees of 2-3 years duration can be considered for entry to the second year of Bachelor degrees

Bachelor degrees of 3-4 years duration can be considered for entry to the final year of Bachelor degrees.


Bachelor degrees from NARIC or government recognised institutions with a duration of 4-7 years can normally be accepted for master’s studies.

A First Division is equivalent to a UK 2:1

A Second Division is equivalent to a UK 2:2

A Pass Division is equivalent to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-masters course

English Language Requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but the standard University requirement is 6.0 with 5.5 in every component in IELTS or the same scores in the University’s own entry test, the Wolverhampton English Proficiency Examination (WEPE).

Some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University standard requirements.  For details of each programme’s English language requirement please see the individual course pages.
