Making student life a safer place for you.

Student life can be hard to navigate. Whether you’re away from home for the first time and need some advice, or just need some ideas on keeping your property safe, you’ve come to the right place.

The following message from West Midlands Police offers some great advice to help you stay safe as a student, including an introduction to your local PCSOs, the Safer Students website and more digital resources.

Introducing…Safer Students

Welcome to your new university – we hope you have an amazing few years here!

Student life can be tricky to navigate. As well as having fun, making friends and getting stuck into your degree, it’s also important to keep your safety in mind – especially if you’re living away from home for the first time.

Here’s what you can do to get started:

Meet your university officers

Each university in the West Midlands has a designated Police Officer and/or PCSO who work hard to keep you safe while you’re at university. For Wolverhampton, the names and contact details of yours are:

PCSO Emma Dimmock emma.dimmock@westmidlands.police.uk

PCSO Sam Shotton sam.shotton@westmidlands.police.uk

There will be Police Officers from the city centre team spending time on campus supporting the work of the PCSO’s.

These officers will carry out a range of activities on campus throughout the year, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to meet them and find out more about what they do. You can also contact them if you need any advice or support throughout the year.

Read our digital guide

We’ve created a handy guide to give you lots of information on how to keep yourself and your belongings safe, as well as help you stay on the right side of the law.

Our hope is that this guide will empower you to make informed decisions that prioritise your wellbeing, enabling you to fully embrace all the opportunities and experiences that student life has to offer.
