Author Yomi Adegoke to visit University of Wolverhampton to learn results of cutting-edge research on her novel The List

In the beginning of 2025, an interdiscplinary team at the University of Wolverhampton embarked on a new adventure: The Wolverhampton Bookshare, a project that seeks to stimulate reading cultures in the West Midlands. We invited students and staff at the University as well as member of the general public to read Yomi Adegoki's novel The List - for free. Some participants read physical copies, others read the ebook version. After three months, Yomi's readers were invited to complete a questionnaire about their thoughts and feelings about the novel.

Yomi Adegoki will be visiting the University to participate in a Q&A at which she will speak and read from The List and engage the public in a conversation about the perils of digital living.

The University team will also reveal the first results of their psychological survey probing readerly behaviour whilst launching the University's new venture, the Digital Futures Lab.

Please join us on the Wednesday 28 May to celebrate the power of storytelling and the important of reading for wellbeing at this unique event.

The Bookshare team includes Professor Sebastian Groes (English Literature), Sara Edwards (English Literature), Dr Tom Mercer (Psychology), Dr Beth Young (Psychology) and Samatha Phiri (English Literature).

This event is open to staff, students, and the general public. It aims to celebrate the power of storytelling and the importance of reading for wellbeing.
