Annual Inclusivity Conference

Intersectional approaches to embedding inclusivity are taking on greater significance in our work here at Wolverhampton and this year, we would like to view intersectionality through the lens of Authentic Allyship, which is our conference theme.
The event will feature Pliny Soocoormanee, Executive Officer for Pater Tatchell Foundation and an alumnus of UoW MA, International Business. Pliny, first in his family to attend university, is a National Diversity Award winner and his tireless dedication to advancing LGBT+ rights, particularly for refugees, is widely recognised.
Jason Arday is Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Education. He was formerly a Guest Editor on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and listed fourth on the prestigious Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 in 2023.
Professor Arday has previously held the position of Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Glasgow, School of Education; Associate Professor in Sociology at Durham University in the Department of Sociology; and Deputy Executive Dean for People and Culture in the Faculty of Social Science and Health. He is a Visiting Professor at The Ohio State University in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, University of Glasgow in the School of Education, and an Honorary Professor at Durham University in the Department of Sociology.
Also speaking is Abi Daré, is a New York times bestselling author and public speaker, also an alumnus of UoW School of Law. Abi’s novels ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’ and ‘Still I Roar’ have been translated into over 22 languages and taught in schools and institutions worldwide. Her work continues to spark critical conversations on education, empowerment, and resilience.
