Student Update: Estates Masterplan

The following Student Update email was circulated to all students on Wednesday 29 January 2025.
Dear students,
It is a very exciting time for our University as we build on nearly 200 years of existence and embark on the next phase of the University’s development captured in our new Strategy 2035.
To achieve our ambitions, we have been developing a new Estates Masterplan to create much more connected, vibrant and dynamic campuses which prioritise the student experience and which will support you to achieve the best outcomes. The Plan will also allow us to remove old, environmentally unsustainable buildings, release resources to invest in the student experience and support the University’s long term financial sustainability.
Initially, we will focus on the following key projects:
- The development of a Medical School and accompanying facilities. This will involve closing the Sports Centre and providing alternative provision.
- The relocation of teaching activities from Telford Campus to City and Walsall Campuses by August 2026.
- The relocation of professional service teams and activities to the second floor of the Civic Centre.
This period of change may cause some disruption, but we will work to minimise this and my team and I will work with you and the Students’ Union to make sure that you remain engaged and updated.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to provide feedback, including directly to the Wolverhampton SU Student Voice team, so please do share your views with them by means of their feedback form which can be accessed here.
I look forward to hearing your views as we collectively work towards building a thriving and successful University.
Best wishes,
Professor Ebrahim Adia
Vice-Chancellor
