CDW Highlights: Careers, Enterprise and The Workplace sessions

During Career Development Week (12 - 16 February 2018), Careers, Enterprise and The Workplace will be running a series of workshops and events designed to help give you skills and experience to help you in your career after you have graduated. Workshops: 

1)      Present & Pitch 

Date: Monday 12 February 2018

Room: Lord Swraj Paul Building, MU313, City Campus

Time: 10AM – 1PM

Description: Whether you are pitching a business idea or presenting in a job interview, getting your idea across successfully is key. This session will cover the essentials of presenting yourself effectively and getting your message across.

 

2)      Opportunity Knocks 

Date: Tuesday 13 February 2018

Room: Lord Swraj Paul Building, MU313, City Campus 

Time: 10AM – 1PM

Description: If you want to be the person known for not just coming up with great ideas but for making them happen then this is the workshop for you.  This session will fine tune your intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial skills.  So whether you are employed or working for yourself, this session begins at looking at how you come up with new ideas.  Not all opportunities are equal so the next part of the session involves how to determine which are most likely to be successful?  The session concludes by creating a framework to implement the ideas so you can reap the rewards.

 

3)      Marketing yourself – Personal Brand 

Date: Wednesday 14 February 2018

Room: Lord Swraj Paul Building, MU313, City Campus

Time: 10AM – 1PM

Description: This workshop gives you the opportunity to plan to cultivate an authentic and powerful personal brand. We start by looking at how your personal qualities, strengths and vulnerabilities form your brand values and personal identity.  Once these are identified we critique how these come across, both in person and in the digital sphere, through our behaviour and messages.  The session gives a fresh perspective on how to build consistency in your personal brand whilst being authentic.  Having a well thought through personal brand will strengthen your career success and entrepreneurial ventures.

 

4)      SPEED 

Date: Wednesday 14 February 2018

Room: Lord Swraj Paul Building, MU313, City Campus

Time: 2PM – 4PM

Description: Have you have thought about working for yourself, freelancing or starting a business? The University of Wolverhampton helps students and graduates to successfully starts their own enterprises. Come and speak to our Enterprise team to find out how we can support you.

 

5)      Business Model Canvas: business planning

Date: Thursday 15 February 2018, City Campus 

Room: Lord Swraj Paul Building, MU313, City Campus

Time: 10PM – 1PM

Description: The Business Model Canvas (BMC) is used by start-up businesses and large corporations alike to create a highly effective business plans that can help a business successfully grow. Rather than spending time writing page after page on your business plan, our BMC session will help you create a visual, 1 page tool to launch your business idea.
