Local school pupils support Chaplaincy Winter Project

School pupils donate winter clothing to keep our students warm this winter.
Pupils from West Walsall E-Act Academy partnered up with the University via our Chaplain, Imam Mohammad, and collected items such as hats, jumpers, jackets etc., in their school for the Chaplaincy Winter Project. These items are then offered to our students who can use them to keep warm this bitter winter.
By way of thanking the pupils and the school for their very generous donations, the group were given a talk on CV's Interview Skills, Higher Education and Careers, delivered by Poonam Sangrey from the Careers team.
The pupils also thoroughly enjoyed a tour of the City Campus and were excited to see all the facilities that are available to students at the University. They also took part in leadership and teambuilding activities at Chaplaincy. And, as another way of thanking them, they were gifted with goodie bags from the University.
Paula Harrison, Senior Access, Skills and Widening Participation Coordinator, describes her team's engagement with the activity: "I am very pleased to have been able to contribute University branded freebies (which included tote bags, pens, rubbers, trolley coins and rulers) which came from the Access and Widening Participation Team. We support with removing barriers to higher education for those groups who are vulnerable such as those with disabilities and learning difficulties or those who are care experienced or estranged."
