A message from Chaplain Shyam Singh about Vaisakhi, celebrated by Sikhs around the world this week.

Transcript:

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Dear staff members, students and visitors of Wolverhampton university. My name is Giani Shyam Singh (Sikh Chaplain at the multifaith chaplaincy department at the University).

We usually celebrate Vaisakhi Khalsa Sajna Divas every year at the university, but due to Covid-19 we could not celebrate Vaisakhi for the last two years.

By Guru’s grace, this year, we are going to celebrate Vaisakhi at the City Campus Wolverhampton University on the 25 April.

Vaisakhi is one of the most important and colourful festivals, celebrated by the Sikh Nation.

Usually falling on the 13 or 14 April every year.

The day commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa by the tenth Guru, Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj at Keshgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib in 1699.

I congratulate and wish all the staff members, students, visitors and their families in Vaisakhi.

and I pray to Almighty God Waheguru to release all humanity from the pandemic so that we can celebrate all the forthcoming celebrations as we used to before the Pandemic.

Once again, I wish you a happy Vaisakhi!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Best wishes

Giani Shyam Singh
