The Arena Theatre is a University of Wolverhampton and Arts Council England funded organisation, having established itself as a mainstay in the Arts Council’s National Portfolio ever since it began.
As a repercussion of the COVID-19 pandemic, our doors have been closed to members of the public since Friday 20th March 2020, with very few live events taking place in our auditorium since.
With the help of the DCMS and Arts Council England Culture Recovery Fund, we were able to put on a virtual Autumn 2020 season. The fund will also enable us to install streaming equipment in our main auditorium, so online livestreamed performances can become a mainstay of our programme for years to come – meaning we can reach more audiences than ever before. For Christmas 2020, we are asking our patrons to consider a festive donation to the Arena Theatre to allow us to keep providing theatrical experiences for the Black Country and beyond.
Over the past few years, the Arena Theatre has gained a reputation for its open-door policy: providing a welcoming, inclusive environment for freelancers, emerging artists, theatremakers and members of our local community.
A donation of £10 – the equivalent to purchasing a ticket from us – means we can keep bringing the best in small-scale theatre to Wolverhampton, alongside providing opportunities for freelancers and artists across the West Midlands and beyond.
As a thank you for your support, our partners have put together a virtual performance of our annual Festive Frivolities show. This will be e-mailed to you along with your receipt of donation.
We look forward to welcoming you back very soon
