After graduating, countless rejected job applications forced me to find another way into the Industry. I began reaching out slowly and built a network of relationships that have led to opportunities I could never have imagined.

Studying photography at Wolverhampton was one of the many experiences that would shape my journey. A career in advertising hadn’t even crossed his mind until Euripides (my lecturer) reviewed my work one day and said “This isn’t photography, it’s advertising.” His comment planted a seed encouraging me to keep experimenting with image and text and to take up a Masters at Kingston University in creative economy & advertising the following year.
Setbacks push us forward in the strangest of ways but when I got made redundant on day two at my first ever job in advertising, it certainly didn’t feel like that. But it’s true. Setbacks enable you to learn, grow and move closer to fulfilling what was destined for you.

Tanis graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a 2.1 BA Honours Photography Degree back in 2015. Fast forward six years, he has now worked at three of the biggest brands in the world including @google @bbc @apple. He never would have thought his journey would have lead to where he is now. He also emphasises that he is still on the journey. “Be absolutely fearless with reaching out to people, don’t be afraid of people not getting back or turning down your invite. If they do, it wasn’t meant to be, keep it moving and hit up the next person. One of them will get back, be open to just connecting for shared interest and be honest about what you are looking to gain from it.”
