The 'University of Opportunity' opened many doors for me and enable me to explore different avenues. I met wonderful people, made lots of friends and even have a career here.

Making friends and embarking on the University journey together. Being involved in interesting seminar topics. Having the opportunity to go on a placement and having a taster of what it is like to work in the workplace. Having supportive lecturers who helped me throughout my course. Meeting people from diverse backgrounds.
I learnt a lot of transferable skills such as: presenting, working as a team, organisation, time management and overall learning to be independent. My degree also gave me a lot of confidence in myself and my work and the way I approach others. These skills definitely helped a lot in the workplace and in all my roles I have had since graduating.
In my currently role, my key responsibilities are to ensure information is being communicated with our students who live in university accommodation, to keep them up to date. I also am responsible to keep staff members within the Estates and Facilities department up to date with matters within our area. I cascade this information across social media channels, university webpages, marketing literature, newsletters, blog posts and emails.
Being able to support underrepresented groups into higher education.
Always ask questions whenever you are unsure and make the most of all the support that is present within the University. Always try your best and don’t give up! You have the ability to achieve your potential!
