A time to really learn who and what you are and what you really want to be.

Studying fine art at The University of Wolverhampton gave me a unique insight into the creative process and enabled me to use those skills to broaden out into other creative areas. As a professional musician I have found that an awareness of what Art does and it's value in our society has helped keep my focus on what matters in music, and that is making creatively valid work. The intellectual requirements of a fine art training has also helped in the field of education. I still find myself returning to the lessons taught at the University over thirty years ago and I am still in touch and working creatively with fellow ex-students from that time. In November 2020 I released an album on GEP Records with my current band Rain called 'Singularity' and it featured cover artwork by Matthew Bourne, an internationally recognised painter and also an ex-student of the fine art course at the university.
Think about transferable skills. These are the skills that enable you to get a job. And the world is changing at the moment and with this also the job market. An open mind, creative soul and a kind heart is what will be needed in the future.

After leaving college I became a graphic designer for a short while before moving over to music. I have since then worked as a drummer, music producer and educator. The peak of my career I suppose was playing drums for Robert Plant for a few years but I am a founder member of the band Frost and have played drums for a number of well known progressive rock groups. I have also toured the world doing drum clinics and I have played with some of the greatest drummers on the planet. I also coordinate the music courses at Kidderminster College. I currently play drums alongside Bev Bevan (ELO/The Move) in the band Quill, and play in my own band Rain who recently signed to GEP Records.
