    Epidemiology in Public Health , and Evaluating healthcare programmes, interventions and technologies.

I began my public health career in 1994, passing the MPH at the University of Birmingham in 1998 and achieving FFPH in 2007.

As a Consultant in Public Health in the NHS, I led several public health areas including sexual health, children’s services, teenage pregnancy, perinatal mortality, Research & Development, public health performance, elderly, stroke services, eye screening, as well as being Pan-Birmingham cervical and breast screening lead.  I have now retired from practice.

In my role as a Public Health academic, I founded and led the Master of Public Health (MPH) award at the University of Wolverhampton and worked as a systematic reviewer at the University of Birmingham.

From 2009-2016, I was Professor in Public Health at Staffordshire University. This role included leading a Distance Learning MPH, establishing an MPH in Health Informatics and being Academic Director for the Centre for Health and Development (CHAD), as well as supervising students and publishing research. 

I also continue to be active as an Emeritus Professor at Staffordshire University, Honorary Professor in Epidemiology at Aston Medical School, Honorary Consultant in Public Health at Shropshire Council and Clinical Research Specialty Lead for Public Health at NIHR CRN West Midlands.

I have published many research papers, as well as textbooks on clinical audit, medical statistics and epidemiology.
