Athlete Scholarship

The University of Wolverhampton Sport Scholarship Programme offers performance packages for elite athletes, aspiring coaches, match officials and leaders.

The University of Wolverhampton awards a number of scholarships to individual student-athletes who demonstrate aspirations to compete to the highest level within their sport. Our three Athlete Scholarship packages provide the student athletes with a dedicated performance team who work holistically to provide them with a well rounded performance services programme. Our scholarships ensure all successful applicants are able to compete at the highest level, whilst studying for a degree.

Athlete Scholar Packages and Criteria

The Elite Athlete Scholarship offers performance athletes at undergraduate and postgraduate level the opportunity to benefit from a level of support, aimed at assisting each individual to reach their potential. The two scholarship packages (Gold and Silver) provide a financial award and a tailored range of support services.

Elite Athlete Scholarships are awarded on a case by case basis and to be eligible, applicants must be competing in a sport included in either the BUCS, Olympics, Paralympics or Commonwealth programme.

Eligibility 

  • Compete at an international standard in your sport (Gold Scholarship)
  • Compete at a national standard in your sport (Silver Scholarship)
  • Be currently enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at University of Wolverhampton for the academic year 2024/2025.

 

Elite Athlete Support Services

  • Financial award - Gold £1000, or Silver £500
  • WLV Gym Membership
  • BUCS Membership
  • Strength & Conditioning
  • Physiotherapy
  • Sport Psychology
  • Performance Lifestyle Support
  • Workshops
  • Teamwear Kit

The Support Athlete Scholarship offers performance athletes at undergraduate and postgraduate level the opportunity to benefit from a level of support, aimed at assisting each individual to reach their potential. This Support scholarship package provides a tailored range of support services.

Support Athlete Scholarships are awarded on a case by case basis and to be eligible, applicants must be competing in a sport included in either the BUCS, Olympics, Paralympics or Commonwealth programme.

Eligibility 

  • Compete at a regional standard in your sport (Support Scholarship)
  • Be currently enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at University of Wolverhampton for the academic year 2024/2025.

WLV Sport Scholarships are awarded on a case by case basis and to be eligible, applicants must be competing in a sport included in either the  British University and Colleges Sport ,Olympics, Paralympics or Commonwealth programmes. 

To be eligible for an Athlete sport scholarship:

  • Compete at an international standard in your sport (Gold Scholarship)
  • Compete at a national standard in your sport (Silver Scholarship)
  • Compete at a regional standard in your sport (Support Scholarship)
  • Be enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University of Wolverhampton

The Scholarship Scheme is reviewed annually although the Panel reserves the right to make changes and / or amendments at any time. The Panel also reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship offer at any time.

Applications for 24-25 are open.
