A haven amongst the hustle and bustle of the city is West Park. Just a 15-miute walk from city campus it offers glorious green spaces (perfect for a picnic), a boating lake, outdoor gym, tennis courts, football pitches, cycling and walking paths, plus a café serving all-day breakfast. A must!

An area of outstanding national beauty covering over 1300 hectares, Cannock Chase has everything from Go Ape and mountain-biking trails to wildlife walks and peaceful picnic spots. In the summer there are even large-scale concerts hosting some of music’s biggest names!

Just a 10-minute drive or 30-minute bus ride out of the city is Wightwick Manor. Owned and operated by the National Trust this Victorian manor house showcases the best of Victorian architectural, design, and art, coupled with a breath-taking garden showcasing apple orchards and stunning floral displays. 

This Jurassic-themed outdoor mini adventure golf course has over 18 holes of ‘prehistoric’ adventure, including a 20ft resident T. Rex. Available to play day or night, it’s a great way to enjoy some time with friends. 

Home to ancient meadows, woodland, pools, a river and the remains of Pendeford Mill, this nature reserve is the perfect place to escape the city, surround yourself with nature and even spot some rare birds.
