Local writer’s talents recognised with coveted Honorary award
The University of Wolverhampton has recognised the talents of a local writer by honouring him with an Honorary degree.
Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise.
Roy McFarlane, an award-winning writer, fellow of the Royal Society of Literature who has helped shine a light on the Black Country & Birmingham area’s cultural history and current events, has been awarded a Doctor of Letters.

His creative expertise has also helped reconfigure and renew both Black identity and Black history regionally and nationally.
