Students from Mumbai get a warm Wolves welcome at University visit

The University of Wolverhampton hosted a visit from staff and students from Podar World College recently – offering them a Wolves warm welcome. 

19 Undergraduate degree students, accompanied by Priya Chowdhury, Executive Director at Podar World College, visited the University’s City Campus to give them an overview of University life and to help develop their skills in innovation and creativity. 

Podar World College (PWC) is a key international education partner based in Mumbai, India.  It is part of the Podar Education Trust, which has offered education opportunities for over 90 years and works with the University of Wolverhampton to offer local students Business Management Undergraduate and Business Administration Master’s degrees.   

The University has worked in partnership with PWC for almost 10 years.  It is a satellite centre for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), with almost 200 students studying in Mumbai, and every year the students work on an international project with Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. 

The visit included trips to Jaguar Land Rover, Cadbury’s and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football club. The students were offered Master classes in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing, Philosophy and Ethics in business.   

Dr Gurmak Singh, Head of International and UK Partnerships and Recruitment for the University’s Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences, said: “The University was very pleased to host students and the Executive Director from Podar World College, Mumbai last week. The students had the opportunity to engage with the course teams and the local students as well as visiting local business and taking part in a digital marketing project.”

For us students, the experience was both rewarding and transforming. The industry visits and module leader sessions on campus broadened our perspectives on our assignments. Right from the interactive classroom activities which embraced my innovative thinking to the industrial visits at Cadbury and Jaguar Land Rover, my intellect was challenged and nourished.  

“Visiting the Wolves stadium, speaking to international students, teachers and other Faculty members provided a wider perspective of the educational and professional world. All in all, my experience was wonderful, I would like to thank Podar World College and the University of Wolverhampton for this incredible opportunity.''
