The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are, or who aspire to be, professional managers with responsibility for people, projects, operations and/or services. The Apprenticeship is suitable for those working in the private, public and third sectors and for companies of any size.

Over the course of the three years of study on the programme, you will study a diverse portfolio of business-relevant topics including:

  • Leading and Managing in Organisations.
  • Strategic Management.
  • Business Intelligence and Digital Capability.
  • Social Responsibilities.

On successful completion of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, an individual will be awards:

  • BA (Hons) in business Management.
  • Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.
  • Chartered Management Institute Chartered Manager status.
  • Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

Degree Apprenticeships are accessible to those employed within a workplace in England. This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you are a manager, senior manager, head of department, operations manager or have management responsibilities.

How it works

The Degree Apprenticeship has been designed and developed in collaboration with employers and professional bodies. To access the apprenticeship, candidates will need to be in full-time employment in a managerial role, in England.

The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship may take up to four years to complete.

As a Degree Apprentice, you will study BA (Hons) Business Management modules which include:

  • Introduction to People at Work
  • Organisational Structures and Effective Management
  • Business Intelligence and Digital Capability
  • Customer Acquisition and Retention
  • Social Responsibility
  • Strategic Management
  • Business Research Project

Alongside this, you will apply your newly acquired knowledge and skills directly in the workplace and supported by workplace mentors capturing this learning in a portfolio. The portfolio will be used to complete the requirements of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

Qualifications

On successful completion of this professionally accredited course, you will have the opportunity to gain the following qualifications (including registration with the Chartered Management Institute):

  • BA (Hons) Business Management
  • Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship
  • Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership
  • Chartered Manager status

Fees and funding

For employers with a payroll below £3 million: The Government will pay 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship training and assessment for apprentices of any age, for employers who will not be paying the apprenticeship levy. You may also be eligible for extra employer incentives.

For employers with a payroll above £3 million: From May 2017 employers will be able to use their Apprenticeship Levy contributions towards the cost of the apprenticeship using their digital account. We will agree a payment schedule and discuss funding availability before you start your apprenticeships and ensure the cost to your business is clear upfront.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will need to be currently employed by a building company within the UK and be working for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Academic Pathway:

For this apprenticeship programme we require applicants to have achieved one of the following admissions conditions

  • A Levels - grades CCC or above
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – grades MMM or above
  • Access to HE Diploma (60 credits) of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3 (96 UCAS point equivalence, minimum 45 credits at merit)

We also accept Level 3 qualifications that are equivalent in depth to those listed above for example the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Construction or related subject area, if you are unsure if your previous qualifications are acceptable, please register your interest and we will be able to confirm if you are suitable for this course.

Work Experience Pathway:

If you do not hold an academic qualification from the list above at Level 3, we also consider applicants who have work experience that is directly related to this course subject. To be eligible for this pathway you will need the following.

  • 3 or more years of relevant managerial or supervisory work experience, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the sector for the subject matter you are interested in pursuing.

All work experience-based applicants will be required to provide a reference detailing your role(s) and responsibilities from your line manager, this would be requested after you have successfully applied.

English and Maths:

All Applicants who have not yet achieved GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 4 or above or an approved equivalent will be required to achieve these qualifications prior to taking the end-point assessment of your apprenticeship. At the University of Wolverhampton, we will enrol you free of charge on Functional Skill English and Maths at Level 2 to ensure you are able to achieve your apprenticeship qualification.
