Zine Types

Zines cover any and every topic the creator cares enough to put onto paper. To help find zines of interests within our collection we have grouped some into different types.

Examples of some types of zines you can find in the collection include;

  • PerZines: mainly personal stories where the zinesters share their thoughts, opinions, experiences etc
  • Photo zines: collections of photos sometimes grouped by themes such as location
  • ArtZines: a presentation of the zinesters art. In our collection we have artzines in different art styles such as illustrations, collage, watercolour as well as themes such as horror.
  • Gaming zines: zines showcasing favourite video games, instructions for games and or inspired by games
  • Queer zines: zines about being LGBTQ+ and Queer
  • Craft zines: these zines often share instructions on making things such as a zine about how to make a zine
  • Comic zine: original comics and graphic stories
  • Mini-zine: small zines often made from a single sheet of paper.

Here is an example of a mini zine created by our librarian Katie.
