We have a new Zine Collection in Harrison Library. Zines are easy to make informal publications which can be used to share artwork, stories, ideas and much more. Part of our purpose with this collection is to encourage and cultivate a space for self-expression among the university community.

To help you make your own zines follow the steps below that some of our library staff used to create mini zines. We also have books on this topic which include helpful templates and ideas to get you started including , Make a zine! : start your own underground publishing revolution by Joel Biel and Stolen Sharpie Revolution by Alex Wrekk.

Now you have an 8 page zine to fill in as you wish, with whatever your heart desires.

For further inspiration pop into Harrison Library and check out the zine room. The collection has art, photos, comics, horror, politics, personal stories, and more in it. Our art zines vary from the tongue in cheek Ugly Baby Jesus or A Little Grayscale Zine of the Good Lord that focuses on medieval and renaissance depictions of Baby Jesus with varying degree of skill, to the traditional Parklife with landscapes painted by the author, to the absurd The Furby Art Zine.

Once you’ve made your zine, we would love it if you wanted to donate it to the zine collection and we will have a donation box available in the zine room soon. For more information on the zine collection see our webpage.
