Event to show business benefits of 3D printing

The free talk will look at how the latest developments in 3D printing can be beneficial to businesses.

It will feature a talk from an employee at Stanford Marsh, one of the leading print technology companies in the UK.

Abi Hopkins from the University’s Innovative Product Support Services department will also be talking about opportunities and services the University provides to businesses around 3D printing.

There will also be demonstrations of what a 3D printer can do and attendees will be welcome to have a guided tour of the Centre and its innovative technology.

The event is being hosted by Innovation First, a project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which assists small organisations to explore business opportunities through the innovative use of technology.

It will take place at the University’s Science Park, on Glaisher Drive, on Wednesday, January 22, from 8.30am to 10am.

Paul Burrow, Project Manager for Innovation First, said: “We have recently acquired a Stratasys 3D printer and it’s fascinating what can be produced by these machines. 

“We want to demonstrate to local and regional businesses what 3D printing can do and how it can be done and of course the university offers a number of services in this area such as product design and rapid prototyping. 

“Our business breakfast events are small, informal networking opportunities that offer useful information about innovative technology”
