The dynamic School of Media is home to courses dealing with the theoretical and practical study of Animation, Games and Film Production and Film and Broadcasting. Many of our media team are leading academics in their field and are widely recognised for their publications and research. A large number have come from industry and bring with them their knowledge and experiences to give you a more relevant understanding of your subject, as well as using their links to give you a head start in your career.

Our researchers in the School of Media have a depth of knowledge and expertise in digital creativity and audio visual technology. Our research fall into two main areas: the Centre for Art, Design, Research and Experimentation and the Centre for Film, Media, Discourse and Culture.

All courses within the School of Media are supported through the provision of digital facilities for both teaching and private study by students. In addition to computer suites with the latest industry-standard software, the School also houses specialist studios for animation and television modules and portable equipment is available for student loan. Twenty final-year BA (Hons) Broadcasting and Journalism students were visited by Keith Harrison, the Editor of the Express and Star last month. Richard Phelan, BA (Hons) Animation, is part of the successful writing and storyboard team at Aardman Animations that recently won a BAFTA for the fourth series of Shaun the Sheep. Richard works as a Feature Story Artist for Aardman and wrote several of the episodes within the award-winning series. Read more details.
