University staff get on their bikes to raise cash

21/06/2017

Staff from the University of Wolverhampton got on their bikes to raise money for a local charity recently.

Three employees from the Estates Management Department based at City Campus in Wolverhampton took part in the 100 mile plus Wolverhampton to Aberdovey Bike Ride which was celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Stewart Chatham, Chris Lester and Paul Davis were cycling to raise money for the Acorns Children’s Hospice based in Selly Oak, Birmingham.  They have raised almost £1,000 to date.

Paul Davis, Assistant Director Estates Management at the University of Wolverhampton, said:  “We have flown the flag for the University twice having taken part in the bike ride in 2015 and then getting back on our bikes again this year – even though we’re two years older!

“We managed to brave the elements and, even though it was one of the hottest days of the year, all three of us completed the ride and we’re really pleased to have raised a significant amount of money for the hospice.  We’d like to thank everyone for their kind donations.”

Donations can still be made on the fundraising page.  Picture caption from left to right: Stewart Chatham, Chris Lester and Paul Davis (MAMiLs).
