New partnership agreed with security firms

The three companies provide specialist training courses for people working in the security sector, including former armed forces personnel who are looking for new careers after leaving the services and fraud investigators in the police and NHS.

Representatives from the companies, the Fraud Partnership Ltd, Sorinteq Ltd and Ubi-Tech Ltd, signed partnership agreements with the University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Geoff Layer on Monday, 4 March 2013.

Professor Layer said: “The University is committed to supporting lifelong learning and enabling individuals to have opportunities to achieve recognition for their achievements in a range of settings, including work-based education.

“We’re delighted to be working with the companies to provide recognition for their specialist training courses and to provide routes onto further study with us.”

The University is recognising postgraduate level courses in Cybercrime Intelligence at Sorinteq Ltd, which develops bespoke training courses to law enforcement organisations, the private and public sector. Successful participants can go on to complete an MSc Cybercrime Intelligence with the University.

Gregory Oakley, Business Director at Sorinteq Ltd, said: "Sorinteq is delighted to work in collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton. The construction through to launch of the MSc Cybercrime Intelligence has been underpinned by solid advice and academic rigour from acknowledged experts."

Students attending courses at the Fraud Partnership Ltd are able to work towards a PG Cert in Fraud Management. The company offers training covering all aspects of financial crime fraud investigation.

David Churchill and David Graves, Directors from The Fraud Partnership Ltd, said: “This partnership will support the continual professional growth of employees within law enforcement, insurance industry, military services and all other professional bodies charged with the responsibility of investigating financial crime and associated offences.

“This collaboration with the University will allow students to develop their work based skills and knowledge whilst also supporting continuous professional development through an accredited academic programme. All students completing the programme will have the opportunity to achieve an award of a Post Graduate Certificate in Fraud Investigation.”

Meanwhile, Ubi-Tech Ltd, which is a specialist provider of engineering and training services to the telecommunications industry, is receiving accreditation for a PG Cert in Wireless Communications courses.

Rob Gardiner, Managing Director at Ubi-Tech, said: “The signing ceremony with the University of Wolverhampton signifies a landmark event for Ubi-Tech (3R) Ltd. Our unique courses are now accredited by the University and will greatly assist the ex-forces personnel when on their quest for a second career.”

The companies design and deliver the courses, which are monitored and quality assured by the University to ensure that they are at an equivalent standard to courses delivered by the University. A participant who studies one of the courses and successfully completes the assessed work will be eligible to be awarded University credits and achieve a University Award which can allow them to go on to further study at the University of Wolverhampton
