University open to all

01/06/2009

An Open Day is being held at its Wolverhampton City and Walsall Campuses.

Prospective students and their friends and family can look around the facilities and take tours of the campuses. There will be an opportunity to meet lecturers for a range of courses and see the student accommodation.

New attractions include a chance to ‘chat to students on the sofa’, giving visitors the chance to gain some informal insight. There’s also a new welcome presentation, ‘Is It Like Hollyoaks?’, focusing on student life.

A forensic tent will give potential students the chance to try fingerprinting in a mock crime scene and an interactive workshop will take place in the hi-tech games lab. There will also be a sign-language taster session, ‘Let Your Hands Do the Talking’.

More than 1,000 would-be students have already pre-registered online to avoid potential queues on the day.

Visitors will be able to talk to experts about money, careers and other vital information at the event, which will take place from 10am until 3pm.

Ashar Ehsan, Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “The University has a wide range of courses on offer whether you are interested in changing careers, gaining new skills or learning more about an interesting subject.”

Those particularly interested in sport, music, dance, leisure and lifestyle, education, teaching, nursing and midwifery should visit Walsall Campus and anyone interested in other subjects should visit City Campus in Wolverhampton. Nursing is represented on both campuses.

There will also be a regular free shuttle bus service between the two campuses so people can be sure of finding out about all the subjects they’re interested in.
