Hello to all students thinking about joining us from Japan! Welcome to Wolverhampton in the heartland of the UK, home to the University of Wolverhampton.

Entry requirements for students from Japan

International Foundation Year

高等学校卒業証書 - Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate

Students with a minimum score of 3 would be eligible for the International Foundation Year.

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is also required.


準学士 /専門士 – Associate degree / Diploma

Holders of an associate degree or diploma with a minimum score of 65% can be considered for entrance to the final year of a Bachelor Degree.


学士 /高度専門士 - Bachelor degree / Advanced Diploma

Students who have completed a Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma from a NARIC or government recognised institutions can normally be considered for admission onto a Master’s degree.

A score of 75%  is considered comparable to a UK 2:1

A score of 65% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2

A score of less than 65% is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-master’s course.

English Language Requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but the standard University requirement is 6.0 with 5.5 in every component in IELTS or the same scores in the University's own entry test, the Wolverhampton English Proficiency Examination (WEPE).

Some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University standard requirements. For details of each programme's English language requirement please see the individual course pages.
