Audience Focus Group

The Arena Theatre has been providing innovative theatre experiences to its audiences for over forty years. To ensure the venue continues to meet the needs and expectations of its audience, we are establishing a focus group to gain valuable insights into the views and opinions of theatre-goers.

The objectives of the Arena Theatre Audience Focus Group are as follows:

• Gain a better understanding of the attitudes and behaviours of current and potential theatre-goers.
• Identify areas where the theatre could improve its programming, facilities, and services.
• Assess the effectiveness of the theatre's current marketing and communication strategies, and recommend improvements.
• Explore new ideas and approaches to engage and attract a wider audience.
• Evaluate the overall satisfaction of the theatre's current offerings.

The focus group consists of 8-10 participants. A core section of this group (4-5 members) will be selected on the basis of being regular attendees of the theatre's programme - the rest of the group will be an open call for audience to leave feedback.

The Audience Focus Group will be conducted in-person and will last for approximately 60 minutes. The group will be chaired by the theatre's Access and Inclusion Manager, who will ask open-ended questions and ensure all participants have the opportunity to express their views and opinions.

The group will be audio recorded to enable the capture of all feedback and opinions. The recordings will be transcribed for analysis which will then be presented to the Arena Theatre management and Advisory Board - the transcription will respect the confidentiality of all participants and ensure identities remain anonymous.
