If you are a young person interested in pursuing Arts Award, or are a school or organisation, please contact Sam Fleming - our Education and Outreach Manager - by e-mail (Sam.Fleming@wlv.ac.uk) or by telephone (01902 322646).

Below you can find information on how we support both Bronze and Silver Arts Awards.

Bronze Arts Award

To achieve Bronze, a Level 1 award on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), young people take part in an arts activity they enjoy, go to an arts event, research their arts inspiration and share their skills with others. Bronze is available to young people aged 11 to 25.

Young people need to plan their work with an adviser and keep a record by creating their own Arts Award portfolio. Their portfolio might be a folder, sketchbook, video diary or a website – it’s up to them.

The Arena Theatre can help young people achieve their Bronze Arts Award by doing the following:

Part A – explore the arts as a participant

  • Young people must participate in any art form, e.g. take part in a workshop – and evidence this with photos. This will include a summary of what they have learnt.
  • Attend a performance at the Arena Theatre, specially discounted tickets are available for shows for school groups.
  • Take part in a post-show discussion.

Part B – explore the arts as an audience member

  • Attend a performance at the Arena Theatre, specially discounted tickets are available for shows for school groups.
  • Take part in a post-show discussion.

Part C – arts inspiration

  • Young people can be put in touch with members of our Arena Theatre development programme, including writers and directors.
  • Alternatively, young people can research into the work of an artist of their choice.

Silver Arts Award

Silver Arts Award is a Level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is designed for ages 14 and above, but is open to young people aged 11 to 25.

The Arena Theatre can help young people achieve their Silver Arts Award by doing the following:

Unit 1: Part C – review arts events

  • Attend a performance at the Arena Theatre, specially discounted tickets are available for shows for school groups.
  • Take part in a post-show discussion.

Unit 1: Part D – arts research

  • Receive a Careers Talk from members of Arena Theatre to find out more about Creative Careers in theatre.
  • Take part in a Q&A with a member of the Arena Collaborative Theatremakers development programme.
