The Government outlined in their earlier announcements, that measures would be put into place to ensure students could return to their non-term time address during the student travel window of Thursday 3rd – Wednesday 9th December 2020.
You will have received information from the University by email to state what your last day of face to face teaching will be and this will vary between Faculties and courses, so it is imperative that you are aware of these dates before confirming your travel plans. The update is also available on the Student News page on the website.
If you are planning to leave accommodation, we will be asking you to undertake the following;
You will be sent specific information regarding the Covid-19 testing that we advise you undertake prior to you leaving. It is advised this is completed between 27th November and 4th December, and you are asked to wait for your test results before departing. Undertaking the tests during this period of time will allow for your results to be returned and still have enough time to arrange departure plans in the timeframe.
If your results are positive you will be required to isolate for 10 days, this should allow you the time to travel home or back to your non term time address before the Christmas period.
If you are identified as a close contact of a positive case, you will be required to isolate for 14 days, but the self-isolation period will be permitted to be carried out at your non-term time address.
If you are being collected to return home we are asking that you book an appointment slot to ensure you are able to depart safely and adhere to socially distanced measures. (The process will be the same as on line booking system you used when you arrived.)
If you are not returning after the Christmas break, can you please ensure that you book a departure slot but also return your keys to the Facilities Hub and sign your key register. You must ensure that you remove all your items from the bedroom and kitchen.
If you are making your own way home yourself via your own car or public transport you will not be required to book a departure slot. If you are using public transport it has been requested that you complete the attached survey for the University https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TravelXmas.
For further information and guidance for students about their departure and return to the accommodation please keep checking on Accommodation Christmas departures for the latest information.
If you are remaining on site over this period you will be contacted with more information in due course.
The Estates and Facilities Directorate would like to thank all of you for your cooperation whilst you have stayed within the accommodation through these very different times, we hope you all have a good break and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
