Support for business

Support for business

As well as providing local people with access to education, University Centre Telford is helping businesses too. We offer business-focused short courses, as well as targeted support for local businesses.

We can signpost you to more in-depth support through the University of Wolverhampton’s extensive range of business services, including degree and higher level apprenticeships, student placements and consultancy programmes available through the Marches Growth Hub (based at the University’s Innovation Campus in Priorslee, Telford).

Our business short courses develop the practical skills and professional knowledge to aid progression in your chosen field. For example, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) courses offer opportunities at all levels for continuing professional development.

Business Engagement

Support from Business Engagement at the University reflects emerging technological advancements; utilising innovative technology, in-house expertise and equipment from the innovation 1st project, which assists small organisations to explore business opportunities through enhanced technology.

Business support workshops focus on everything from advanced drone technology to the business benefits of online marketing and social media, in our mission to make sure your business is ahead of the trend.

The SPEED project, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is a business start-up project offering individuals support to start their business. Support packages are offered via specialist workshops, match-funded grants and business consultancy. We help students and graduates from ANY subject area to have the opportunity to develop their idea into a business to run alongside their studies, after graduation or alongside employment in a supportive environment. An additional support package is offered to existing small to medium-sized enterprises, also known as SMEs.

The bespoke business development workshops cover core business acumen such as Marketing, Finance and other key elements.  You will also have the opportunity to attend additional workshops at the Business Solutions Centre, Wolverhampton. SPEED also offers opportunities to network and connect with like-minded people within Shropshire.

Both the Business Engagement Team and SPEED operate out of University Centre Telford throughout the year, offering professional advice for existing and new start-up businesses. Get in touch with University Centre Telford to find out the dates and times of these workshops and networking sessions.
