Communication and Design

Communication and Design, formerly Communication and Pedagogy, is located in the Faculty of Arts and comprises of staff that are in the broad areas within Visual Communication and Digital Media. The cluster team comprises a wide range of experience and interests in various aspects of design history and theory. Particular interests of cluster members include the interaction between the visual and the aural in multimedia, branding, typography, digital creativity, drawing as a methodological practice, surveillance and post-humanism. A strand of the group is also about teaching and learning, especially technology-supported learning and issues pertaining to equality & diversity in the curriculum, thereby supporting the ethos of the digital campus, which is part of the university vision.

Members of this group are from both practice and theory backgrounds and many draw upon their industry experience to enhance their research. Although recently formed, there is already research of national and international standing including books, journal and conference publications.
