Policy Engagement and Consultations

We are passionate about engendering a positive Impact on Resilience and Emergency Management through the engagement with Policy development and consultations across the UK and beyond.  Through collaboration and multi-disciplinary projects, our teaching and research contributes to public debate and creates solutions to local, national, and global challenges.  By advancing knowledge, and bringing together excellence and innovation, we are changing the world for the better.

Emergency Management & Resilience is engaged in many policy workstreams and this is currently co-ordinated by the Research Policy Unit through two Policy Impact Groups: Resilience and Recovery, and Defence and Security. These groups actively engage in:

  • targeting specific policy engagement;
  • working with others to enhance grant capture;
  • facilitating the production of relevant University documentation;
  • informing the development of future Impact Case Studies; and
  • utilise impact and policy engagement exemplars for use in teaching.

Throughout, all aspects of Emergency Management & Resilience are considered, for example: terrorism, cyber, business strategy, specific incidents, business insolvency and resilience, and Levelling Up and the role of Place.  In doing so colleagues within all Faculties across the University are engaged.
