This course supports industry standard processes for the development of professional quality video, film, television and audio productions. The facilities in Film and Television Production have enabled our students to produce award-winning work.

Introducing the Wolverhampton Screen School

Wolverhampton Screen School has state-of-the-art teaching facilities and equipment with the aim of boosting skills in the digital arts and media industries.

Students benefit from production space, an equipment media store, a video studio with movable partitions and a large multipurpose studio. There are also Mac labs, edit suites, staff offices and a production base room.

The industry standard facilities include a green-screen, three-camera TV studio with an adjoining production gallery. There is also a radio studio which reflects the layout of BBC local stations. News readers have access to a second bulletin studio and the technical kit and software that enable the replication of the workflows of national news journalists and the running orders of professional news programmes.

Wolverhampton's First Ever Live Esports Event

The event saw the Le Mans Virtual Series kick off with the iconic circuit – Monza. Wolves GR Esports went toe-to-toe with racing giants including Red Bull Racing, BMW, Ferrari and Porsche in the four-hour endurance race.

The event was hosted at, and livestreamed from, the University of Wolverhampton’s Arena Theatre, with hundreds of sim-racing enthusiasts tuning in to see the action as well as a number of them making the trip to the theatre itself to experience it in person.

Television Studio

A Specialist Studio designed to facilitate a variety of activities related to Television and Film Making. Equipped with 7 Broadcast cameras including Pedestals, Jibs, Sliders, CueScript Teleprompters and Talkback System housed within an Acoustically treated Space.

  • Complete Studio LED Lighting system including RGB Lights.
  • Multiple backdrops including Chromakey facilities.
  • Local or Remote Wi-Fi controlled Vision Mixing.

 

Gallery

Fully control all elements of a Production from the Gallery.

Control Positions include Camera Engineer, Lighting Console, Script Supervisor, Teleprompt Operator, Vision Mixer, Director, Producer, Talkback controller and Sound Console. Multiple Large screen Monitor Panels relay essential information to the Gallery users to ensure any production is managed efficiently and accurately.

Foley Suite

Audio Production and Post-Production Facility built around a multi component system to enable flexibility and ensure the latest professional practices are available to users. Produce Foley Sound, ADR and capture and manipulate all aspects of audio required for your production.

PC Lab

A classroom resource with 30 high end workstations for taught sessions with access to an Avid Nexis Server to enable access to your project throughout the facility.
